RIVERTOWN PLAYERS
SHERRY & DAN KUEBLER MEMORIAL 
THEATRE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP


        CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY AND RULES FOR AWARDING SCHOLARSHIP


1. Must be a high school senior or a student registered in an institution of higher learning; a resident of Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley, or Franklin Counties in Indiana, Hamilton County in Ohio and Boone County in Kentucky, OR a member of Rivertown Players, Inc.


 2. Must be accepted into a college or university offering a Bachelor of Arts Degree in all aspects of Theater, Musical Theater and Dance.  This degree includes (but not limited to) performance techniques, business management, directing, scenic and costume design, technology (sound and lighting design), theatre and dance history and literary theory.  If there are questions of eligibility, the Board of Directors and members of the Scholarship Committee have final approval.


3. The amount of the award will be $500 and will be deposited under a Trust Agreement with the Dean of the institution of the recipient’s choosing.  This amount is to be granted to the recipient only at the time of actual matriculation into the school of Theater Arts.  Should the recipient change majors before receiving the monies, the scholarship shall be returned to Rivertown Players, Inc.  This scholarship is intended to partially defray the cost of tuition, room and board, books, or other fees of the recipient at a recognized educational institution offering degrees in the Theater Arts.


4. All applicants must complete a formal application, such application to be submitted to the Scholarship Committee of Rivertown Players, Inc. by the date indicated on the application..  The Committee may request interviews of finalists. Applicants may apply one time per calendar year, any number of times, provided they are enrolled in an institution of higher learning for the degree(s) outlined above. 


5. The Scholarship Committee is encouraged to give additional consideration to those applicants who have participated in previous Rivertown Players activities.


6. The Board of Directors is admonished that this award need not be given every year, but only at such a time that a worthy applicant is found.

BOB KERN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
 MUSIC MAJORS


       CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY AND RULES FOR AWARDING SCHOLARSHIP


1. Must be a high school senior or a student registered in an institution of higher learning; a resident of Dearborn, Ohio, Ripley, or Franklin Counties in Indiana, Hamilton County in Ohio and Boone County in Kentucky, OR a member of Rivertown Players, Inc.

2. Must be accepted into a college or university with a recognized program in vocal and instrumental music and in music education.  Must pursue a degree in vocal music  and/or  instrumental music  and/or  music education.  If there are questions of eligibility, the Board of Directors and members of the Scholarship Committee have final approval.


3. 2.  List, as completely as possible, your involvement in all Rivertown Players, Inc., Rivertown Jr., or Rivertown Chorus productions and specify your participation experience.

 

3.  Excluding the information in the previous question, provide a resume of other recent  activities, participation, honors, etc., with particular emphasis on your specialty area (Theater or Music). 

 

4.  Please provide a short statement of your career and life goals and how you plan to attain those goals.

 

5. Please provide two (2) letters of recommendation (preferably on letterhead) from other than family members.  Please use address at the bottom of this document.

 

6. OPTIONAL:  Provide a recent photo.  (For publicity purposes only, will not affect your ability to obtain these scholarships).

 

7.  OPTIONAL.  Please attach any additional information you would like the RTP Board to  know about you and your goals or that you believe to be important to this application.

v  Applicants may apply one time per calendar year, any number of times, provided they are enrolled in an institution of higher learning for the degree(s) outlined in the specific Scholarship Criteria.

v  Applicants may apply any number of times for this scholarship provided they are enrolled in an institution of higher learning.

v  All candidates will be notified within approximately 3-4 weeks following application deadline as to whether or not they will receive an RTP Scholarship Award.  Please note:  Award checks will be sent to the Bursar or Financial Department of your particular school.  Checks are not awarded to students directly.

v  RTP Board of Directors would be willing to make a presentation to our Scholarship Recipients at a school awards ceremony.  Please let us know those details.
